CommunityViz and Firewise
Geodata Services developed a CommunityViz model based on the National Fire Protection Association's National Firewise wildire hazard rating system. Contact Geodata for further details on how to obtain a copy of the CommunityViz model and template file. We also developed an interactive web site for homeowners and fire district personnel. The internet mapping site allows non GIS users to query their Firewise score, and run interactive "what if" scenarios to decrease the fire hazard risk of their home. Geodata also contracted with Steamboat Springs GIS and IT staff to develop a web based homeowner firewise calculator and open source java based web map service running on ESRI ArcIMS as a community service to homeowners on the urban wildland interface.
