Geodata Services has been assisting in preparing the National Broadband Map through TetraTech, who serves as prime contractor on broadband mapping in Montana and North Dakota. The Montana Broadband mapping effort is under the Montana Department of Commerce, and the North Dakota effort is under the Department of Administration. Nationally, the NTIA and FCC took the national broadband map live on 02/17/2011. The Montana and North Dakota broadband web maps have been publicly available since mid January. See the broadband mapping links to the right. Maintenance on the project is ongoing and will be updated twice a year, funded through 2014.
You will notice some differences between the broadband coverage on the national and state maps: the national map is based on the status as of June 2010, and the state maps includes more recent updates through January, 2011. The web mapping efforts were developed independently. The state web maps for MT and ND include the ability to chose and view individual internet providers.
